About Us

The San Diego Green Building Council (SDGBC) is a community of building industry professionals and sustainability advocates with expertise in areas such as architecture, construction, design, urban planning, policy, and more. We work together to promote sustainable building and community practices to bring the San Diego region closer to achieving its climate, water, waste, and energy goals.

The San Diego Green Building Council is a registered 501c3 community benefit nonprofit organization (documents accessible through our GuideStar profile). With national relationships with the US Green Building Council (as an aligned community) and the International Living Future Institute (hosting the SD Living Future Collaborative) we provide local connections through partnering non-profits and local governments.

MISSION

Inspire, educate, and collaborate within our community to transform our built environment toward true sustainability

VISION

Our buildings and communities will regenerate and sustain the health and vitality of all life within a generation

FOUR PILLARS

DECARBONIZATION

Inspire our community to imagine a carbon free future for our cities and buildings.

Educate our growing network about best practices to minimize our carbon emissions through building codes, materials selection and operations.

Collaborate with local and statewide partners to ensure decarbonization efforts are supported and accessible to all.

WATER REUSE

Inspire a more resilient water future for the San Diego region with enough clean, pure water for all, sourced and reused locally.

Educate the region on innovative water reuse strategies and policies to reduce our dependence on imported water.

Collaborate with water reuse innovators across the region and the state to advocate for policy change.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Inspire the holistic integration and prioritization of health and wellness into our buildings and neighborhoods.

Educate on cutting edge practices that support mental, physical, and ecological well being in our built environment.

Collaborate with advocates and industry experts to advance the health and wellness needs of building occupants and local neighborhoods.

EQUITY

Inspire our industry to operate on a definition of sustainability that incorporates equity, diversity, justice and inclusion in its policies and practices.

Educate and advocate for a sustainable, healthy built environment that provides equitable access, treatment, opportunity, and outcomes for the San Diego region.

Collaborate with partners and community members to create a shared understanding of healthy, regenerative buildings and communities.

Our members are at the beating heart of our community and sustainable change in San Diego who represent architecture, construction, and other industries.

Join us today and support the green building council's work to share high performance buildings, workshops, mentoring and networking programs throughout the San Diego region.

Do you offer speakers for Civic Organizations? The Kiwanis Club of SD meets bi-monthly (first and third Tuesday at noon). We were meeting on Zoom but have recently returned to in-person meetings at Admiral Baker Golf Course Club House.
You can contact me at [email protected] or via phone or text at (619) 454-7255.
    Thanks.
