Sofia Lofts offers a distinct living experience with an appealing Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, community-oriented design, and sustainable features. This project deliberately fosters a multi-generational living environment by allowing residents to move into larger or smaller units with a range of amenities as their needs require. 16 studios, including one and two-bedroom rentals, are constructed around an existing, historic three- bedroom home. The “community within a community” objective is achieved with an intimate common area with a BBQ grill, lounge area, and a space for showing outdoor movies. Active sustainable elements include on-site electric charging, bike sharing, and solar PV to off-set electricity usage. “Green” passive design elements are also incorporated including high-density floors, floor-to-ceiling glass that floods units with natural light and windows placed for optimum natural ventilation. Sofia Lofts offers a generous helping of historic charm to create a micro-community that both reflects and enhances the surrounding neighborhood.
