Course Description:
Are you hearing about the state-wide emphasis on building electrification, but unsure of the potential impacts to your business? Are you interested in learning more about key technologies that will contribute to building decarbonization? Perhaps you simply want to learn more about reducing emissions from the built environment?
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn about the movement for building electrification throughout the state of California. Why do I keep hearing about the push for electrification?
2. Learn the role that building electrification plays in reaching climate goals.
3. Learn about practical applications of existing and nascent technologies to support building electrification. Technologies include solar PV, heat pumps, energy storage, electric vehicles, controls, and more.
4. Become familiar with the mindset and methodology to maximize opportunities for building electrification and operational savings.

Alex Kaufman, PE, CEM
Alex Kaufman is the Founder of Solutions in Sustainability, a consulting firm that helps business leaders develop solutions to establish and reach corporate sustainability goals through strategic energy roadmapping and stakeholder engagement.
Alex has spent his career with engineering consulting firms to clean energy non-profits, advising commercial and industrial clients on energy efficiency opportunities and integration of clean energy technologies such as solar PV, energy storage, combined heat and power, and electric vehicle charging stations. He has provided technical support for market transformation programs such as the California Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) and the California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project (CALeVIP). Past clients include local and regional governments, commercial and industrial businesses, community choice aggregators, and government agencies including the California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Alex is a registered professional engineer, AEE Certified Energy Manager, and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
