Speakers/Tour Guides:

Micheal Field

Michael Field has 38 years of experience creating innovative and award-winning exhibitions in Balboa Park and is currently the Director of Experience Design at the San Diego Natural History Museum. He has been involved in multiple architectural renovations and helped the San Diego Natural History Museum to become the first museum in Balboa Park to achieve LEED certification in 2009. Recently, Field has been developing simple architectural modifications to utilize passive techniques that do not require energy to help control light, temperature and humidity to better care for collections while on exhibit or in research areas.

Peter Comiskey, Balboa Park Cultural Partnership Executive Director

An Australian native, Comiskey has a long track record of bringing together diverse stakeholders to launch and operate public cultural and science programs on two continents. Since 2008, he has served as the Executive Director of the Downtown Anaheim Association, a nonprofit group working with Anaheim city officials, Anaheim’s Redevelopment Agency, and multiple property owners to drive visitation of the city’s downtown precinct through developing and launching a number of major public events. Upon moving to the US in 1998, Peter assisted in the launch of Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, and then led the US operations of an international tourist attractions group in Baltimore. Returning to California in 2007, he became the founding Executive Director of Anaheim’s MUZEO Foundation, creating a unique model for regional cultural arts venues in the newly rejuvenated downtown Anaheim. Comiskey holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, and bachelor’s degrees in business and education from Australian universities.

Diep Huynn

Diep has been the facilities manager for the Casa de Balboa for over 10 years.  He was involved in both the initial LEED O+M certification and its subsequent recertification in 2019.  These certifications would not have been possible without his assistance with documenting the building's systems, practices and policies. His coordination with the institutions that reside in Casa De Balboa was invaluable to the success of the certifications.
