Why do you wish to join the Board of Directors of the San Diego Green Building Council?
Tom Abram
Principal + Decarbonization Consultant, Integral Group
I would like to continue to support SDGBC's mission by serving on the Board. I have been enriched by the programs and events hosted by the Board and would like to find ways to continue to expand our reach. COVID has changed how we all work and connect and I believe the SDGBC can provide great value in strengthening the green building community.
Tina Angeles
Architect, Perkins&Will
As a volunteer w/ SDGBC for a number of years as well as a founding co-chair of the Women in Green committee, I would like to contribute more to the green building community as well as the larger San Diego community. The SDGBC BOD gives me an opportunity to participate in the decision-making process for the groups’ programs, initiatives and general direction. I bring experience and passion for the intersections of health, high performance design and equity to the role. In addition, this would be a platform for my personal growth and developing leadership skills.
Daniela Deutsch
Head of Architecture Programs, NewSchool of Architecture and Design
I have been part of the Board since January of 2021 and truly enjoyed it. I believe I can contribute further and better. I was also involved with Green or Energy Efficient Design most of my carrier. I am also teaching almost all classes on Environmental Systems in the Undergraduate Program at NewSchool, as well as leading (4th Year Level Coordinator) the Integrated Design Studio for 8 years now, which is our most comprehensive class in the UG Program. All the buildings developed have to be at least Net-Zero Energy. I was also one the first Living Future Ambassadors, starting in 2010, at (at the time) the Living Building Challenge Organization, now the International Living Future Institute. I am still constantly presenting their concepts to all my students, was just for a moment too busy with both my projects plus full time teaching and had to step out. I am devoted to the responsibility as an architect, for the natural and built environment and to the conscious handling of resources, fostering rethinking and establishing these themes in my projects and the architectural curriculum.
Elektra Fike-Data
Director, Tree San Diego
As a 10-year resident of San Diego with six of those years spent working in the sustainability sector, I am seeking both leadership and networking opportunities that align with topics about which I am passionate. As a former SDGBC Green Business Committee member, I’ve had the opportunity to play a part in recognizing the incredible way sustainable design and climate advocacy complement each other, and with that understanding I wish to help position SDGBC in the forefront of sustainability excellence. As Tree San Diego’s Director I am in a position to bring SDGBC to a larger audience and vice versa.
Elayne Fowler
Business Growth & Operational Innovation Consultant, Saltwater-Strategies
I want San Diego Green Building Council to be the most respected, turn-to-resource demonstrating tangible results in green building and climate change goals. I believe San Diego has not yet realized its potential but could accomplish exponential advancement if we can set a clear path and align resources in new ways.
I have a powerful combination of strategic planning, financial growth outreach, organizational innovation, action plan execution, partnership development and marketing that can help advance the mission of SDGBC. I’m passionate about green building and would like to join the other wonderful SDGBC talent to advance the cause.
Whitney Pearce
Architect, Miller Hull Partnership
I feel a deep responsibility and commitment to push the building industry forward towards a carbon neutral future where the built environment can enhance and strengthen our natural resources, and in turn support human health & wellness. Over the course of my career as an architect, I have helped many clients realize and even surpass their sustainability goals for projects by being a careful listener and a problem solver. Having just moved to San Diego from Seattle this year, I am eager to take my lessons learned and apply them to the SDGBC in your efforts to transform the future of San Diego.
Chantal Sanchez
Realtor, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices
I want to be able to assist in the San Diego market transformation towards more energy-efficient buildings both in residential and commercial with healthy live/work spaces.
