Creating Sustainable Learning Environments: 2020 Green Apple Day of Service

The San Diego Green Building Council is proud to partner with Balfour Beatty Construction for our 9th annual Green Apple Day of Service!

Green Apple Day of Service is a unique movement to join schools in creating healthy, creative learning spaces for the next generation of leaders in sustainability. With many schools drastically disrupted this year, it's important we keep the momentum going to provide better environments both indoor and outdoor for our students.

This year we had the opportunity to host our event with the Poway Unified School District, where we worked on building a beautiful new outdoor learning space at Garden Road Elementary School. In addition to creating this outdoor learning space, we revamped an existing garden, spread mulch, conducted general cleanup and planting, and worked with a muralist to create a wonderful piece of art for the school.

Thank you to our volunteers, donors, and teachers for making this such a special event! You can learn more about our Green Apple Day of Service program here.
